The Book of Jeremiah reflects the ever-worsening situation Jeremiah encountered. At various times, he had the unenviable tasks of challenging the religious hypocrisy, economic dishonesty and oppressive practices of Judah’s leaders and those who followed them. Jeremiah was the voice of warning, the watchman who brings attention to hard truths. Jeremiah warned of the foe from the North but his warning was never heeded - just as Josiah’s reforms were ignored. As a result, the chosen (but disobedient) people of God suffered terribly and unnecessarily. Something You Should Know About the Book of Jeremiah. The Book of Jeremiah is different than many of the Old Testament books of the Bible.
